Most of your time in Quantum MX will be spent on Work Orders. This article outlines some handy features that help you navigate and control a Work Order.
Work Order Controls
The Work Order view has some controls that help you navigate and update the work order.
Work Order Timers
The timers area allows you to log the timer values (e.g. hobbs, tach) that correspond to the work order. Click the timer value to edit and save.
Use the copy to aircraft
feature to copy the updated timer values to the associated aircraft or component. Generally the copy to aircraft
feature is used when the work order represents the current time of the aircraft. Leave that setting unchecked when the work order times do not represent the current aircraft times.
Discrepancy Control
Discrepancies are listed inside the work order's discrepancy listing. The green bar in the left hand margin helps denote the extent of the discrepancy. Each discrepancy contains a control menu, and a quick entry bar to add work entries.
You may zoom into a discrepancy by clicking on the discrepancy title.
Changing the Order of Discrepancies
To change the position of a discrepancy in the order, click the discrepancy number and enter a new position. Position 0
will cause the discrepancy to move to the top of the list. Position -1
will position the discrepancy at the bottom of the list.
Discrepancy Category Filtering
Discrepancies may be assigned categories. See Categorizing Discrepancies. You may choose any categorization scheme, but commonly a category based on aircraft sub-system is used, e.g.: airframe
, engine
, electrical
, avionics
, etc.
Near the Discrepancies heading, locate the filter by category... selector. Select a category to filter the work order discrepancies and show only the discrepancies that are assigned to the category. The selected category is shown in red with a filter icon.
Click the filter tag to remove the filter.
You may also select the category filter, by clicking on the category that is located adjacent to the individual discrepancy title.
Discrepancy Zooming
Two methods of zooming into a discrepancy are provided: 1) the zoom to discrepancy... selector, 2) clicking the discrepancy title.
Using the Zoom to Discrepancy Selector
Near the Discrepancies heading, locate the zoom to discrepancy... selection. Click to view the work order discrepancy list and select a discrepancy. Your browser will redirect to the discrepancy zoom screen for the selected discrepancy.
Using the Title Link
To zoom to a discrepancy, click the discrepancy title.
Work Entry Control
Work entries represent the corrective action work statements that are performed against a discrepancy. Work entries are not shown when the work order page is initially loaded, but you may view the work entries for a given discrepancy using the "show x work entries" link.
When shown, the extent of the work entry is denoted by a blue bar in the left hand margin of the work entry. A row of control links underneath the Work Entry memo text provide control of the work entry and timesheet features.
If the work entry is completed, the header bubble will be shown in a green color with a check mark icon. If the work entry is still open, the bubble will be shown in a blue color with a wrench icon.
Work Entry Auto Complete
As you type to add a new Work Entry, Quantum MX will search the database and provide a list of similar work entry statements. Click in the list to copy/paste the work entry and save typing.
Changing the Order of Work Entries
Work entries may be repositioned in the order by clicking on the work entry number and entering a new value. Position 0
will move the work entry to the top of the list. Position -1
will move the work entry to the bottom of the list.

Completion Metrics
Actual vs. Estimated Labor Hours
The actual vs. estimated labor hours is displayed graphically in the upper-right status area of the work order. When the sum of the actual labor hours is less than the estimated labor hours, the progress will be
depicted using a blue status circle.
Labor Overrun
If the sum of the actual labor hours for the work order is greater than the estimated labor hours, the labor hours depiction will be shown using a full grey circle.
Work Entry Completion
The percentage of work entries that have been completed is displayed in the upper-right status area of the work order.
Work Order Accounting Settings
Use the Settings link to access the work order accounting settings (tax and labor rate) and authorize individual mechanics on the work order.
Custom Bill To / Ship To Settings
Use the Settings link to access the work order billing settings to override the default bill to and ship to addresses for the individual work order. By default, the bill to and ship to information will be pulled from the associated customer profile.
